Make a Solar Extractor

Beeswax can be safely and efficiently rendered with a solar extractor or wax melter. A solar extractor is simply a glass-covered box that uses the sun's heat to melt beeswax and separate it from honey and other materials.

Penn State has designed a solar extractor that you can make yourself. You can download and print or save the following plans to make your own solar extractor. Download may not work in all browswers. You can also access these plans at the Handouts page.
